Winter Seoul

Blame it on the hypertension. I told a friend that I needed a vacation to somewhere cold! So these boots of mine went walking to Seoul with some friends! A very last minute decision and off I go! Look out for the story soon..

BTW I don't think that's a manhole cover but more of an ornament that the Seoul Metropolitan have on their walking paths.

Quilted journal cover

When you are learning in class, your intention is to finish your project in class, right? So normally you would not care if you have done a beautiful job or not. This is the result of that thinking. We were to do some free motion quilting exercises and other stitches to fully utilize our Bernina machines.

While other students had their 100% cotton and designer name fabric selvages on their front cover, mine had it as "100% Japanese cotton"! (I'm cheap! LOL!)

You can see how crooked my free motion is..but I think the batik fabric have its advantages. I just quilt by following the designs, not quite an outline quilting.

It's bigger than my sewing/scribble journal but it'll do.

If I have more time for homework, I would have done it better. Like this old bag of mine.

A close-up of Elisha's. I appliqued a flower to cover up the mistake in spelling. It was
wrongly embroidered as "Alisha'. And also to make up for the smaller fonts due to limited frame size.

The towels were specially packaged in its own bag.

Elisha is now 2 yo.
Ken is 1! This picture was taken by his mum during his birthday celebration at home.

Then came the UFO..

Long time not updating here..and this one is a long-overdued UFO (unfinished object). The bag was finished earlier but still need to attach the handles. Was undecided whether the handles are right for the bag. Turned out, it's perfect! The strawberry handles work perfectly with the muted country heart designs of the cotton linen. And the red Japanese yarn dye matches the red heart. Love it! The size is just perfect for my everyday office wear (it has been reduced from the original weeekender-styled size).

The side pleat. It was tough to sew on the red patch when your bag size is small..

Can this be sold? The genuine leather handles and the zipper tabs itself already cost me RM100++. Still not counting the cotton linen and the Japanese-imported yarn dyed fabric!

Creativity

Don't you just love creativity in a person? This is the works of my friend. The door gift, the setting; all matched to a theme!

She found the tins at unexpected places. Made up the handle to look like a luggage. The setting consists of scrapbook pages with travel themes and maps. The 'luggage' tins used to store a personalised business card. Love it! And all the years that I had known her, her events were so much fun to attend to..

The back is actually a collage of picture printed onto a card and cut to the size.

The table setting..matched up the cake of the day..a red velvet cake!

DIY Sewing/Studio

Need a place to store all my stash and books, so decided to turn one of the rooms to be a sewing space/studio. Managed only to set up the high table (for cutting etc). It is actually part of a built-in cabinet thrown away by my brother's neighbor and supported by a cluster of cheap storage selves. This side is for books and magazines.

Other side for fabrics and storage boxes.
-Still need to buy a sewing table with adjustable legs.
-Put in the fan.
-Bring in the ironing board
-Still thinking if a single bed can be brought in. But then also need a space for my Jazz practice with a wall of mirrors.

I had since bought a high chair from Ikea. And had use this room as office whenever I have to work from home.

It's the new year. I had some time of sewing and decided to try out this new design of id tag. How appropriate! Little did I noticed that the plastic covering of the old id case was torn already.

Organizer file covers

2 styles of organizer file covers that I had done for gifts. I love the print so much that I appliqued to the organizer cover adapted from an old cover of mine. This one was meant for lucky draw during office gathering. I wanted to make one that is not overly feminine.

It was too empty so I included 2011 diary pages. The organizer has pockets for pen or handphone.

Another cover is for a female friend who I appreciated so much for supporting my love to create something...she's a tailor and she sent me numerous fabric remnants for my sewing hobby. I hope she can use this one to carry around. Who knows a person can ask to be measured for a dressmaking anytime..hehehe

Kawan Mokwe tak dapat datang ke family day ni, jadi Mokwe bagi tiket2 tu kat Kakak yang sedang bercuti masa tu dengan Anis dan Fahim (nasib ah..Angah ngan A.Faiz kene sekolah ganti aritu). Ni kat Cosmo World, Berjaya Times Square.

Ni ah..Kakak nunggu Anis ngan Fahim main kapal jongkang jongkit ni..

Another UFO finished. Quilted Japanese yarn dyes, machine appliqued Sue and hand embroidered flower motifs. It was supposed to be a pouch but I thought I turned this into a purse that can be carried as mini handbag or across body.

Ni dia..banyak tu wishes dia..jadi tengahari tu Mokwe teman kan kawan berniaga kat carnival. Ada demo mesin jahit jugak, jadi Mokwe tumpang la sulam kain, jahit dan siapkan beg kecil tuk Angah aritu jugak. Malam tu sempat order satay jugak sebab Aki nk makan satay.

Day 3- Snorkeling in Sipadan

The jetty that before this you only see in TV.. Quoted from a Google search..
The very famous late French undersea explorer and filmmaker Jacques-Yves Cousteau once remarked about Sipadan ISland "I've seen other places like Sipadan 45 years ago. Now we have found again an untouched piece of art." And that was many years ago and today Sipadan is still an arguably the top dive destination in the world.

Back at Mabul that afternoon, we got ourselves DSD lessons..that's Discovery Scuba Diving. An introductory diving course prerequisite to licensed scuba diving courses.

Day 2 - Kapalai

Our room may not have a jacuzzi but ours are facing to the sea. Imagine waking up to this beautiful sunrise!

Early morning activities at Mabul island. The fishermen were all out fishing already.

As part of our accomodation package, we got a free boat ride to any of the surrounding islands. So we chose Kapalai Island. Our original plan was to stay there but we were too late in booking.

Kapalai Island is more like a sandbank actually which can be seen on the other side of this island on low tide. This resort comprises the whole island itself. You will need permission to get onboard but we were there to do snorkeling only. More fishes to see! At one point, I saw a small ray passing by!

After lunch, 5 of us get to experience ourselves diving. For about RM200, we booked ourselves to the Discovery Scuba Diving course. We got to dive out to about 5m underwater. Imagine seeing a curtain of yellow fishes right in front of your eyes! Once you overcame your fear of being underwater, it was a very nice experience! But I still haven't got the hang of controlling my bouyancy yet! Hahaha.

That evening before dinner, we took another boat ride going around Mabul Island. We even got to visit one of the Bajau Laut's (Sea dayaks that lived in those boats) families. The sunset was not very good that day as it was cloudy.

This is Mabul island from distance. Mabul is the largest of the 3 nearby islands.

What used to be an oil drilling plant, now converted to a sea diving center with a live band every night.

These people were preparing for a night dive..

Every day there will be groups that went diving in Sipadan. A videographer will accompany one of those groups and filmed their diving activities. During the night after dinner, everyone is invited to the video session. Awesome videos! Make you wished that you know how to to scuba dive! Imagine swimming along with this turtle.

At Sipadan's Barracuda point, you will get to see these swirling barracudas!

The good news that night was that we managed to get a snorkeling trip to Sipadan on the next day! Yes, the whole of our group! (We heard some news that they were others who had to wait for 4 days to be slotted in for a trip there!).

Day 1 - Mabul Island

We were lucky enough to get a good rate at this place!

Below, the dive center where we spent most of our time either snorkeling around the place or boarding boats for a trip somewhere..

Full tank. Never thought that I would had an experience using it underwater during this journey!

Come equipped with a jacuzzi where we would spent a few minutes, after every underwater trips, while waiting for the bathroom to be available..hehehe

Sabah's underwater paradise

Told you, I'll be coming again. And yes, this time I am equipped with Olympus underwater camera. Not that I like using it..the start up is very much slower than my ancient Canon Powershot 520 but it is cheaper than having to buy an underwater case.

The trip started with a day in TWU..ordering seafood to be packed home and of course, a seafood dinner. A steamboat dinner!

Homework for another bag on Saturday. I love the collection of these prints! This one is by Keiko Geko for Yuwa Fabric titled Three Squares. Made in Japan. Use each of the square parts, so the bag will have different square sizes on the front, bag and sides.

Do you think the cotton tape matches with the fabric? Or should I use black instead?

This is another print from the same collection. It reminds me of Macintosh Roses! This one is made into a backpack, still WIP. Only need to combine the outer and inner bag together.

Finished some plain totes for a friend.

Somebody came back from Russia and gave ne this matryoska or nested Russian dolls. Love it!

The smallest one peeking out..

Bought some Japanese prints too..love those little kimono ladies! Matryoska is also a favorite among Japanese kawaii prints but so far I haven't found one yet. Maybe soon.. Kawaii literally mean 'adorable' or 'adorable', or cute in Japanese.

Bags in the making

It has been a long time since I had been to a bag making class. This is a WIP picture of one bag where I learned how to sew on a piping. This bag is finished and currently awaits its return..(its leather trims need to be sewn by special machine!).

This is another bag that I had recently finished. This mini bag has curved piping. Materials used are japanese linen and yarn dye fabrics.

Learned how to make this invisible zipped back pocket..

Nice little feet!

Still need to attach the latch and some grommet to hold its handles. Haven't decide on the handles yet.

A watery experiment!

To test out the iron-on vinyl. The interfacing had already been ironed-on to the bag pieces and I want this bag to be as water resistant as possible (a backpack for my laptop). So I tested a piece of vinyl to see if it sticks to the interfacing. See the shiny part..that's the vinyl square ironed onto the intefaced fabric. So far, it sticks good! Now for the ultimate test!

I poured out my leftover coffee to the other side of my vinyl patch (don't want to bag to be outside-shiny, so I ironed it on the inside. Think of it like a laminated fabric or good sub for oilcloth. Feels like a fabric being double-interfaced).

Flipped it up and notice that I had forgotten about the interfaced part. So I poured some on that part. See top right coffee patch.

Flipped up again! And voila! You can see that coffee seeped through fabric and interfaced fabric but not the part where the vinyl is..see the square trace on the tissue paper.

Iron-on vinyl are available in 17" width and sold by meter. Email for inquiry.

Day 3, we decided to depart early for Saok Waterfalls on the way back to Pengakalan Gawi. Meanwhile breakfast was being cooked..

Kenyir Part 2

Day 2 was spent on the house boat in Sg Trenggan. The place was quite packed with other houseboats with serious fishermen (you would know that when you don't see kids on the boat). The area is quite famously known as "Lubuk Lampan".

Kenyir - Part 1

At Pengkalan Gawi, overlooking Lake Kenyir before setting out to Sg Cacing. The trip took 4-5 hours. So meanwhile,

Know these fishes? 3 Belida in 1 small tank at the Kelah Sanctuary park office.

And walked to Kelah Sanctuary. Trekking took about 45 minutes..less if you have longer legs..hehehe

After a short swim with the kelah, it was time to trek back to the house boat.

After the wedding, we done a little bit of sightseeing to the Crystal Mosque. One of the stalls nearby sold this malt drink from Iran..non alchoholic of course. But you may tripped yourself if you are not looking properly. The mosque was packed with visitors and the day was hot and the sun was blinding to the eyes...

That night we stayed in Kuala Berang before taking the boat to Kenyir the next day. Took the chance to visit the nearby memorial of Batu Bersurat.

Dropped hearts..a wedding gift.

A group of us collected some money for a friend's wedding. Decided to buy some Jusco vouchers so that the couple can buy something of their own choice. Needed something to put the vouchers in and this is the result..an album slipcover done in about 2 hours!

Raw-edged appliques using locally bought cotton, mixed cotton and felt. The initials on the felt hearts are done free-hand.

The design is inspired by an album sold in Jusco. The embroidered cover is done in some leather like material sold for about RM60.

Bags..bags..bags

I don't wear handbags much (I wear backpack, across body/sling bag or wear-over-your-arm bag most of the time so that I have my hands free..), but that doesn't stopped me from loving them. I definitely love making them!

Check out this article on 50 signature bags in LA Times. See which are your favorites. I love bags based on their shapes rather than designer labels though I am a big fan of Coach! Among my favs from the list are LV Graffiti Neverfull Bag, Burberry Plaid Tote and Chanel Quilted 2.55 Bag. Not that I can afford them but I can make a similar one, right?

One of my earlier drawstring bag to store rechargable batteries and charger. Look at the yellowing fabric! The charger and batteries are actually new replacements, but not the bag itself.

I badly needed an id case. My old plastic ones are fit for the trash already!

My first attempt. Should have known better the plastic doesn't like pressure..hard time trying to turn this inside out! LOL!

A better alternative but can do next one better..it would do for the time being. Hehehe

A back compartment for easy-to-retrieve access card or LRT ticket etc. I put in a snap button to hold them all in. In case one decide to go down a toilet again! LOL! (My last access card did that after 20 years of usage. Cost me RM30 to get it replaced!).

Inside I can put my keys in..the lining is still not OK. Have to come up with a better idea.

The zip has special ring puller. Easily attached to a lanyard.

Malam tu Angah kene temankan Abang Faiz kat hospital. Abang Faiz demam masa tu. Angah bawa semua buku2 dan kain felt dan inilah hasilnya..

Minggu selepas tu, Makwe bawa kain felt dan buku2 craft felt Jepun dan Taiwan tuk Angah buat. Ni Anis nak try sama..Untuk permulaan, Makwe suruh buat donut dulu. Ajarkan Angah jahitan mana (blanket stitch, running stitch) nak gunakan untuk tangkup kepingan2 felt tu.. Ni Anis sebelum..selepas ni dah merungut sbb jahitan tak menjadi dan dah nangis2 tak sabar..hahaha

Ni hasilnya..yummy! Aki kata kalau jual 'samah' (50sen) laku ni..hehehe

Ni Anis punya..makwe jahitkan manik untuk dia..dan Andah jahitkan icing tu tapi Anis siapkan donut tu sendiri. Tengok lan jahitannya..ni pun selepas Makwe ajar sembat biasa aje kat dia..

Ni Angah punya..cantik, halus dan kemas..

Had been admiring key fobs over at Etsy shops like the one above for the longest time! I think it's very convenient so that you don't have to grab and hold your keys anymore. Just slide it to your wrist and your hands are free to hold anything else.

These are the first two I made after I found a similarly clasped d-ring. At Etsy, the hardware is of square ring for use on 1 inch cotton webbing. This alternative hardware is of d-ring but the size is of a 3/4 inch. Much more suitable for us! These 2 went out for family and friend.

Hari Sabtu 20Mar tu, mokwe ngan Anis dan Fahim bawa Aki ke Putrajaya. Jalan2 rumah Kak Yanee. Jalan nk gi ke tempat belon ni penuh sesak. Ni berenti kat padang tengok belon2 dari jauh jer.

Ahad tu masa gi sana, cuma tinggal belon2 ni ajer..yang lain dah terbang balik kot..

Anis dan Fahim beraksi depan helikopter tu. Mahal oo nk naik tu..rm120 tuk 4 orang tuk 5 minit penerbangan..tapi ramai juga yg beratur sampai tiket dah abis dijual. Nak naik belon panas lagi la..subuh2 lagi yg beraturnya dah panjang!

Testing out my new 50mm prime lens. Love the pictures! But the only disadvantage was that I had to zoom the pictures with my feet (with a 1.6x crop body, a 50mm focal length is like a 80mm zoom). While almost all the photographers (well, the ones with camera in hand) were at the fences or nearby areas, I was at the far end of the field!

Sabah Day 5: Shopping in Tawau

On the day of departure, we went shopping at Pasar Ikan Tawau. Busy day at the market!

Big prawns..cheaper here! A good way to transport these is to freeze them in ice. It would be better if you have some local contacts who could do them for you and pick up on the day of your departure. According to the airport staff, to pack these prawns in crush ice is actually a hazard.

Don't forget to shop for some dried seafood products also. And some seafood snacks..

Sabah Day 4 - Mabul and Kapalai

Approaching Mabul Island..lying 15km north of Sipadan, this reef is at the edge of of the continental shelf and separated from Sipadan by a very deep sea.

One of the homes of Sea Bajau..they said that these people get dizzy if they are on land for too long..

We went off snorkeling at what appeared to be the edge of a reef and were lucky enough to see a turtle swimming nearby. Then we were on the boat to see Kapalai. It's actually a resort built on a reef. Scary but yet an exciting place to stay..to visit, you have to ask the security's permission but the sea was too rough for the boat to get near Kapalai. So we were off to another snorkeling spot. This 2nd place was much more shallower than the first one but we could not really balanced ourselves when standing on one of the tougher reef rocks. Come to think of it..some of us did feel a current of cold water while snorkeling. (We only knew of the tsunami in Chile when we stopped at a restaurant on the way back to Tawau. Though we did noticed an airplane flying low and police marine boats on the way back to Semporna).

Sabah Day 4: Off snorkeling in Mabul

Early morning at Semporna's waterfront. We were off by boat to go snorkeling in Mabul and Kapalai islands...part of the 3 famous islands off Semporna, Sabah. Sipadan is too far to cover in a one-day visit..

Kampung Air..houses on water are common sight in Semporna and surrounding islands.

In the middle of the ocean, the boat had to slow down for these shallow waters..

Off in the distance, you'll get to see these floating white things that goes a long way..the boatman was kind enough to detour the boat so that we can see clearly what they are..

Back at the inn after dinner, we stopped at nearby souvenir shop..
As I waited for the others to make their buying and having my coffee, I looked at this decoration of hanging seashells..It dawned to me that it was supposed to imitate the school of small fishes in the ocean which is what Sipadan and the surrounding islands are famous for..

Shopping for crystals..I think the shop owner must had made lots of money that night..

I just got myself some magnets and lots of these photos. While the others were busy bargaining, the two of us were busy taking pictures.

Sabah Day 3 - Semporna

In the afternoon, we left for Semporna. At the last kampung, we stopped for some very good durians and langsat. Here, wild dogs just love scavenging for durian leftover!

Once arriving in Semporna, we checked into Dragon Inn. Nice place..a floating hotel at Semporna's waterfront. A busy place for water taxis!
As part of our hotel package, we got free entrance to the sea aquarium nearby. This is such a weird-looking fish and very, very shy..

That night, we were joined by a local friend who would show us where we could have seafood for dinner..

Sabah Day 2: Danum Valley

Early morning at Danum Valley Field Centre. This is not a place to stay around in bed till afternoon. If you get lucky, you can get a glimpse of some animals during the early morning hours.

My second time here at DVFC. This time there were not many scientists/researchers around. The others that stayed here were visitors like us, except they were foreigners. Love to see the camera gears that they brought along with them.

Late morning we set out for Borneo Rainforest Lodge, another 2 hours away from DVFC. Just before reaching BRL, we stopped at this canopy walkway. Beautiful setting..

At BRL, off we go a wandering..

Some of us who decided not to trek to the coffin area, waited here..

What was left of the coffins..these people believed that the higher they were buried, the easier it was to get to the life after..

You can see BRL from the viewpoint, just a little short distance uphill from the coffin place.

Menggaris trees..prominent features among the jungles surrounding Danum Valley.

Jacuzzi pool, where we had our packed lunch of nasi goreng and a piece of fried chicken. We were joined by a group of European tourists staying at BRL. They had a special spread of local fruits and pisang goreng, brought out from BRL which was finished by us..Never refused a free food being offered.. I think the staff wanted a lighter load on his way back.

Late afternoon, two of us went up this 120 feet observation deck nearby DVFC. Looking up from the observation deck..a woodpecker was busy pecking on a distance tree somewhere. My binocular is too small to be able to see any birds or orang utan..

No idea how long we stayed up there..after a few photos, it was time to go down the ladder again to join the others at the bottom.

On the way back to DVFC, we found this little woodpecker dropped out of nowhere and injured himself. The guide, Gerald went on to nurse this little guy while the rest of us went on for a swim at Segama Beach.

After the swim, nearby our hostel, we saw these two deers hanging around. Towards evening, you could see many more of them lurking around the buildings, happily grazing on grasses and leaves.

Later that night, it was time for a night safari. More deers..one little red and black broadbill (a species of bird) sleeping on a branch oblivious to our spotlights, an owl..

Sabah Day 1: Tawau to Lahad Datu

We flown in an early flight to Tawau. After getting the rental cars (we got one 4WD and a Proton Wira..badly needed for service). The views from Tawau to Lahad Datu are mostly plantations. If you ever wonder what happened to all the plantations that Subang used to have, they all moved here! Most of the big plantation companies are here..

This is where we are going..but we had to get to Lahad Datu to register at the site office first. Lahad Datu at lunch time is a jam area..school's out time.

A common sight in Danum Valley. The roads that we travelled to DVFC are mostly gravel roads. Imagine 4 hours of bumpy ride. It would be easier if we get the DVFC transport but unfortunately, we travelled on the days that don't have the transport in and out of DVFC. It would more expensive to try and get one at these times as they would charge you for an 'empty ride' out of DVFC.

Another 10km more. This is where the road branches out to DVFC and Borneo Rainforest Lodge (BRL), the 5-star accomodation popular with Europeans and Japanese.

Office lunch

Sometimes we were too lazy to walk out for lunch. On other days, it was just too hot. But most of the times, it was a time for sharing..share news, share food, share the time to get together (When you are too busy at the office, you tend to be on your own private world with the computer..).

We would cook the rice in the office pantry (hmmm..any meals would be good with hot rice!!) and someone would go out to buy the lauk and sayur (for 1-2 persons serving). Most importantly, there will be a person who will initiate the lunch..the person who has leftover meals (last night's dinner). It was not much of a meal but somehow it was enough. A good portion for diet and it is cheap..hehehe

Ni kek bday Fahim yang ke 6 tahun..Makwe gi cari kat Tesco Selayang..yang ada banyak bunga2 jer..Ada se tu warna oren tapi banyak la pulak dekorasinyer. Makwe takut gak tak best. Lepas tu makwe nampak ada jual Ultraman 2 biji atas kaunter. Makwe suruhla kakak kat kedai tu buang bunga yg sekuntum tu ganti kan dgn Ultraman ni.. kira bday Fahim dapat kek cun gak la..hehehe

Masa makwe sampai rumoh Fahim..dah kul 10 malam. Tengok la muka Fahim tu. Makwe kene stuck dalam jem teruk hala nak gi Selayang tu..kat bulatan Bt Caves tu..padahal hari tu dah seminggu Thaipusam dah..Fahim telepon masa makwe dalam sesak jalanraya tu..Dia kata bile nk sampai ni..adik dah ngantuk dah nak tidur ni..Makwe kata kita wat esok la..Fahim dah nangis2 dah,,ngajuk. Masa makwe amik gambo ni..adik pakai underwear je..hehehe Sbb tu makwe suruh dia duk belakang kotak..klu tidak gambo kene censored! hahaha..

Kira ni masa dah belah2 kek, tiup2 lilin la..Muka ceria skit..Tu makwe suruh dia gi pakai baju elok skit..hehehe Perasan dok? Tu rambut bday fesen mcm ayah.. :-)

We had a UNO reunion the other day. We had fun reminiscing old stories and such. One of the good thing about Facebook is that it bring old friends together again. Hope to see more of them on FB.

Found this to be a good reading. I had weighted myself on the scale on Tuesday. While I lost abt 1kg++ from last month, I found that my body fat is increasing. Two months ago, I was weighted at 2kg heavier, but I had a much lower body fat percentage. (You see, I had been skipping dinner..well maybe not, but I just ate whatever's available. Too lazy to cook when you are back at home so late in the night..hehehe).

So I googled.

It seems that as you put yourself on a diet, you may lose some of your muscle mass as well as your body fat. You may find yourself at a plateau eventually where you will not lose any more weight even as you continue your dieting. This is due to a drop in your metabolic rate.

So the article was saying that to reduce body fat effectively, you need to support, maintain and build lean muscle mass by incorporating these 3 things:

1. protein - muscle is build by protein
2. calcium - maintains muscle
3. strength training - pick up those weights!

Note: Muscle mass increases the rate at which your body requires calories by burning body fat i.e your metabolic rate. So you look slimmer even if you actually weighs the same.

Taman Negara Merapoh, Sg Relau, PHG

Cuti hujung minggu kat Taman Negara Sg Relau, Merapoh, Pahang. Tuju jalan ke Gua Musang, berdepan dengan stesen keretapi Merapoh belok ke kanan 7km kedalam. Ada beberapa chalet dan kawasan perkhemahan yang besar disini.

Sungai di kawasan campsite..sesuai tuk mandi manda..Air jernih tapi sejuk. Ke atas lagi ada jambatan..boleh buang roti tuk tengok ikan kelah, sebarau datang makan. Bila time makan, loceng akan dibunyikan dan pellet ditabur..masa tu boleh tengok ikan2 datang serbu..Meleleh la air liur memana pemancing tegar..almaklumlah tgk ikan sebarau, kelah yang besar 2kg lebih..

Kenderaan 4WD disediakan tuk ke Kuala Juram, 11km ke base camp permulaan bagi pendaki2 Gunung Tahan. Di Kuala Juram ni ada santuari kelah..

Bila loceng dibunyikan, ikan2 kelah dari lubuk belah kanan tu merebut2 naik ke atas, melawan arus tuk makan..Cuba tengok betul2..nampak tak kelibat ikan kelah tu? Disini ikan kelah species merah..tertarik tgk ikan2 tu datang beratus2 berebut sampai lupa nak amik video..memang sesuatu yg menyeronokkan..Kalau ada goggle lagi seronok tgk dari dalam air..ikan besar2 datang menerpa. Ada bumbun tempat melihat binatang.. ada disediakan tempat tidur katil bertingkat tuk sesiapa yg ingin bermalam. Ada kawasan bergaram berdekatan..rimau, beruang, pacat pun besar dan panjang disini!

Di menara tinjau Bukit Seraya, dihari yg terang bolah nampak puncak Gunung Tahan (dibelakang, dibalik kabus). Pendakian Gunung Tahan dari Merapoh dan turun semula ke Merapoh mengambil masa 4 hari gitu.

Di kawasan dewan makan, ada tempat rehat dimana ikan kelah, lampam dsb ada di akuarium. Sambil menjamu cokodok dan kuaci boleh tengok ikan2 ni melayan arus..

Tak pun boleh mandi manda dan bermain air..

The office held a year-end bowling party. 'Bowling with a twist'.
Not your usual bowling competition, but our team won 4th placing. Each member got 2 rm5 McD vouchers (thus the 2 prosperity burgers in my last post, hahaha).

Jazzercise studio had a Xmas/year end party last night too. As well as to celebrate Christina's birthday. Though not many turned up but we had a good time anyway. Talking and eating..to compensate that night class's worth of sweat. LOL! Time for gifts and prizes.

Body weight - up by almost 2 kg! Yikes...
Body fat - up by 0.3..see above
Water index - less by 0.3..not good ni
Muscle Index - up by 0.7
Physical Rating - 3 (solidly built) Down by 3..
Calorie - up..more muscles the more calorie you need, that means your metabolic rate is actually higher (according to my teacher la)
Metabolic age - same as last month (phewww!..lucky me...)
Bone Mass 2.6 - same as last month (sad to hear that a friend died of joint cancer last night..)
Visceral Fat - 8, up by 1..not good ni..

Let's see what I had been doing wrong in December.

-10 classes..mostly in early days of the week as I had been travelling to TGG during the mid-month weekends.
(classes not consistent).
-Been having too many nasi dagang, nasi kerabu and nasi ulam kuah singgang during those travel days! Yikes..no wonder all the weight gained. I hadn't mentioned about the 2 prosperity burgers in a week! Double yikes!!
-When you are out of your comfort zone, you tend to forgot to drink more water..
-Lack of good, restful sleep
-Eating habit changed. When you eat while you are hungry, you tend to eat more..

You see, I put myself on the scale before class began. You can imagine what will happen if I weighted myself after class like usual as we had a Xmas/year end party last night at the studio. LOL!

Time to catch up in January..

When you open the lid, this is the view with the strings tied. You have a choice of doing a pincushion center (which I haven't finished the sewing yet) or this round little container to put things in.

The couple happened to share the same initials and the groom did mentioned that he wanted to make something out of the Rolls Royce logo for their wedding. Thus how I got the idea for the decoration of this album cover. I copied the logo and did the machine applique.

Unfortunately, the felt doesn't stick nicely with the glue so I had to applique everything to the base cover. I am thinking that it would be nicer if I grid quilt the cover. But the idea came only after I glued on the cover to the album. Maybe next time..I wonder whose wedding is next? Hehehe

It's so hard finding a good, archival album here. A scrapbook album is ideal for photographs as it is archival and non-acidic, but it can be too expensive.

I love magnetic albums as you can put in photos of mixed sizes in it but the glue used is not good for photographs over a period of
time. If you noticed a picture turned yellow, check if you left it near sunlight or your album page is acidic. The best alternative is finding albums with polypropylene sleeves. Polypropylene is non PVC, but I also don't know how to differentiate them.

So this album have to make do..hope the photos will last long...

Just want to share my personal wellness chart measured at beginning of this month.

My body weight is still about the same as I had only been to my Jazzercise classes about 6 times in Oct (after puasa month) and 4 times in Nov due to my vacations. But my metabolic age is down by 2 years. (Don't know if I see this wrongly). See how the chart measures when your water index increases! So drink lots of water! And exercise, of course..

Here's the ideal charts...I still have a long way to go.

Body Fat Range (for my age) - healthy 25.6
Water Index 50-55%
Physique Rating 6 - normal; excellent (7-9)
Bone mass - women (50-75kg) 2.4
Visceral Fat (5-9) healthy; (1-4) excellent.

Body fat range: THis range is measured against a minimum training from 10 hours a week. Women 11-18% (So I am still OK if measured 18% less..hehe)

Muscle index: For every extra KG of muscle gained the body uses approximately 100 extra calories a day. Everybody who experiences a change in the muscle mass should monitor and adapt the calorie intake accordingly.

Physique rating: Offers the opportunity to set a desired physique rating to tailor your healthy/fitness programme accordingly. When a person increases their activity, their weight may not change but their balance of body fat and muscle may alter which will change the overall physique or body shape.

BMR: The number of calories the body needs when at rest. Understanding BMR will allow you to monitor the number of calories your body requires according to your physique and lifestyle. The more muscle or general activity you take the more calories you require. BMR decreases as the body ages.

Metabolic Age Rating: BMR starts to decrease after the age of 16/17 years old. Your Metabolic Age rating indicates at what age level your body is currently rated at. If the age is indicated higher than your actual age then you need to improve your BMR. Increasing exercise levels will build healthier muscle tissue which burn more calories, consequently improving your metabolic age rating.

Visceral Fat: Fat that surrounds the vital organs in the trunk/stomach area of the body. High visceral fat levels increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Lowering your visceral fat levels can stabilise insulin action substantially, reducing your risk of diabetes and other related illnesses.

See the big log stuck at the bottom of the bridge. My brother said that the concrete bridge itself never yet been in use. All damaged. Left only old wooden bridge that can accomodate pedestrians..I have no idea what's on the other side of bridge. I don't think there's another kampung there, maybe just plantations.

Kesan banjir kat Kemaman..ada balak besar tu tersangkut kat jambatan konkrit yg blum digunakan sepenuhnya lagi. Air sungai pun masih tinggi walaupun banjir dah surut masa ni. Walaupun kampung tak ditenggelami banjir, tapi jalan2 yg menghubung tak dapat di lalui. Time ni makan sardin dan ikan kering jer...
