Baby shower gift basket

This is how I came up with the gift basket for the baby shower. Well, I should called it baby bowl since a basket is more expensive to buy. There is a cute bicycle basket included so the mommy can put little things inside. Pictures shown from the initial arrangement to how it was finally done.
All decorations consist of baby wear, wash clothes, mittens and booties. The final picture shown with embroidered towels which I will post later separately.

Mail art: recycled plastic bottle

My friend ordered a bottle of argan oil from me. I googled on how to mail the glass bottle safely and found out a link how some unusual mails had been put into the mailbox (in the US). Among them is a mail made out of plastic bottle. This would be perfect to house a small glass bottle inside. With some padding or fillers, the plastic exterior will protect it.

On further Google-ing on how to make one, this is how it turned out. You make a window on the side and the cover it up with some decorations. It'll be fun for the recipient to guess on how to open up the packaging. Mine was just done with a sticker. 😆

Of other creative things...

I may not be stitching during the blog is dead to the world..but that doesn't mean that I was not being creative. Here are some examples. Some stage designs for our Jazzercise studio to mark some event or occassions. This one was last year's Hari Raya/Merdeka day. The draft and the final design. Not my best works..

Creativity

Don't you just love creativity in a person? This is the works of my friend. The door gift, the setting; all matched to a theme!
She found the tins at unexpected places. Made up the handle to look like a luggage. The setting consists of scrapbook pages with travel themes and maps. The 'luggage' tins used to store a personalised business card. Love it! And all the years that I had known her, her events were so much fun to attend to..

The back is actually a collage of picture printed onto a card and cut to the size.

The table setting..matched up the cake of the day..a red velvet cake!

More felt food!

Anis tak puas hati, dia pi tukar aising purple kat atas donut dia..sekurang2 sekarang donut ni dia yang siapkan sendiri semuanya. Sebelah tu Angah hasilkan keratan belimbing dan aiskrim. Katanya nak gantung kat handphone.
Malam tu Angah kene temankan Abang Faiz kat hospital. Abang Faiz demam masa tu. Angah bawa semua buku2 dan kain felt dan inilah hasilnya..

Burger dan aiskrim lagi..

Ada pie kecil dan mini donut..

Cantik kan pai ni? Dengan strawberry lagi tu..

Roll cake..

Felt cakes again!

Pagi esoknya tengok Angah punya kek pandan dah siap! Angah letak aising dengan strawberry..

Felt class

Ingat kepala beruang ni? Dah siap dah. Gi sms Angah tanya dah mandikan belum bear ni? Hehehe.

Minggu selepas tu, Makwe bawa kain felt dan buku2 craft felt Jepun dan Taiwan tuk Angah buat. Ni Anis nak try sama..Untuk permulaan, Makwe suruh buat donut dulu. Ajarkan Angah jahitan mana (blanket stitch, running stitch) nak gunakan untuk tangkup kepingan2 felt tu.. Ni Anis sebelum..selepas ni dah merungut sbb jahitan tak menjadi dan dah nangis2 tak sabar..hahaha

Ni hasilnya..yummy! Aki kata kalau jual 'samah' (50sen) laku ni..hehehe

Ni Anis punya..makwe jahitkan manik untuk dia..dan Andah jahitkan icing tu tapi Anis siapkan donut tu sendiri. Tengok lan jahitannya..ni pun selepas Makwe ajar sembat biasa aje kat dia..

Ni Angah punya..cantik, halus dan kemas..

Malam tu Makwe pun cuba sekali..terhasil la kek lapis coklat ni..nk buat letak pin.

Hexagon etui

hexagon etui
Originally uploaded by myroz
Etui = decorative box. This one in particular is meant for my sewing things. I finished this one when I was at the Penang retreat.

When you open the lid, this is the view with the strings tied. You have a choice of doing a pincushion center (which I haven't finished the sewing yet) or this round little container to put things in.

When you untie the strings, the hexagon sides open up like this. I am supposed to put in two pieces of felt for needles on the 2 empty sides.

When the sides are opened completely..I hope to put this on my sewing table one day..

A wedding gift

Nurul Hafizah Dec09

It's so hard finding a good, archival album here. A scrapbook album is ideal for photographs as it is archival and non-acidic, but it can be too expensive.

I love magnetic albums as you can put in photos of mixed sizes in it but the glue used is not good for photographs over a period of
time. If you noticed a picture turned yellow, check if you left it near sunlight or your album page is acidic. The best alternative is finding albums with polypropylene sleeves. Polypropylene is non PVC, but I also don't know how to differentiate them.

So this album have to make do..hope the photos will last long...

I will post the full picture later as I am in the process of making
another one for another wedding later this week.

I have a very limited time to be crafty at the moment, so sometimes
I have to make 2 of the same design, maybe with a slight variation..

Saje kasi intai dekorasi album tuk hadiah pengantin. Sekarang tengah buat satu lagi, jadi tak leh nk letak gambar penuh. Hilang stim nanti..hehehe
Tgh sibuk skit jadi tak sempat nk pikirkan design lain tuk album yang ke2 ni. Terpaksa buat design yg sama tapi mungkin ubah skit2 jer..

Friends Gather

Vistana's schedule
Originally uploaded by myroz
Vistana hotel 20-22Nov in Penang. Well worth the money spent to be here. I had so much fun though it was very tiring. Every night, I was fast asleep once my head touched the pillow. LOL!

We had craft and bag making, free motion quilting, applique and
patchwork workshops there. You just take what you want to learn and pay for the kits. You can also shop for fabrics and others at 20% off! I already bought a quilting/patchwork stitch plate and a
new quarter-foot accesory for my Bernina machine, so I had to
control myself not to spend on too many fabrics. I also bought 2
bag-making kits, 1 etui sewing box kit, 1 clasp-framed coin purse, and a few applique kits featuring Sue. For those who registered, we each got an embroidered pouch kit.

Met up with so many new friends with many talented skills; among them whom I happened to know that they have blogs, Hanim and Kathy as well as my dear stitching buddies Niza, Leena (hmseen), Azie and Nik.

There were quilts and bags on display too. For those who interested, a demo on the new
Bernina 830. Last but not least, we even had a massage session arranged at the hotel. LOL!

Seronok jumpa kawan2 yg sama minat menjahit ni. Ada kelas menjahit beg,
patchwork, applique (sulam tampal), quilting dsb. Bayar jer harga kit dan
duduk belajar.
bergaya dgn beg yg dijahit sendiri.

Wait for more updates on finished works.
